"Third Watch," 9 p.m., NBC. It's a shattering day as Yokas returns to work. At the fire station, one of the people goes over the edge and holds hostages at gunpoint. In the chaos, a firefighter is shot and sharpshooters take aim. Meanwhile, the crook-ed Nardo (Nicholas Turturro, formerly of "NYPD Blue") strikes. He kidnaps Bosco's mother, then holds Bosco hostage.
"The Fairly Oddparents," 7 p.m., Nickelodeon. If you missed Monday's premiere of this terrific episode, try it now. Tommy wishes his way into a comic-book world starring his favorite character, Crimson Chin (Jay Leno). The result delights.
Of Note
"Stanley & Iris" (1990), 7 p.m., Pax TV. Two Oscar winners, Jane Fonda and Robert De Niro, star. She plays a troubled widow; he's a loner who can't read.
"Joan of Arcadia," 7 p.m., CBS. Joan befriends a teen and then learns the girl is homeless, spending the day jumping rope in her neighborhood.
