UH football to open against Florida Atlantic

Advertiser Staff

The University of Hawai'i will open its football season against Florida Atlantic on Sept. 4, UH athletic director Herman Frazier announced today.

Florida Atlantic replaces Sacramento State, which asked to be released from its game against the Warriors.

Florida Atlantic, located in Boca Raton, Fla., will begin its first season in Division I-A as a probationary member. The Owls will not count as a Division I-A opponent for the Warriors in determining wins needed for bowl eligibility.

Florida Atlantic is coached by Howard Schnellenberger and was 11-3 in 2003.

UH said the game with Florida Atlantic finalizes the 2004 schedule.
