Tonight's Must-See
"American Idol," 7 p.m., Fox. Which kind of "Idol" will it be tonight? The first batch of semifinalists was terrific; the second, last week, was awful. In spite of vocal challenges of their own, Maui native Camile Velasco and Matthew Rogers, the former football player, managed to win. He sang well once the voting was done; she still sounded wobbly. Both were very lucky they weren't competing in Week One. Tonight, the second of Hawai'i's three semifinalists, 22-year-old Honolulu resident Jonah Moananu, gets his shot at a slot in the final 12. But can he beat "pen salesman" Jon Peter Lewis? Tune in.
Of Note
"8 Simple Rules," 7 p.m., ABC. Tatum O'Neal plays a PTA member who attracts a grandfather (James Garner).
"Oblivious," 7 p.m., Spike TV. A new season begins for this clever, hidden-camera concept in which people don't know they're on a quiz show. The segments including a bikini car wash are too contrived this time, but it's still fun.
"I'm With Her," 7:30 p.m., ABC. Cybill Shepherd plays Alex's glamorous mom. She insists on accompanying her daughter to the Oscars.
