100 college scholarships available

Advertiser Staff

The Hawai'i Community Foundation has more than 100 post-secondary school scholarships to award for the next school year.

Only one application is necessary to apply for all the scholarships. The deadline is Monday.

Most but not all scholarships require that the applicant be a Hawai'i resident, demonstrate financial need, plan to attend an accredited two- or four-year college or university as an undergraduate or graduate student, be a full-time student, demonstrate academic achievement and exhibit good moral character.

Each scholarship also has specific eligibility criteria from the donor who created the fund — for example, some target specific areas of study while others are aimed at students from minority groups.

HCF is a statewide, nonprofit charitable-services and grant-making organization.

In 2003, HCF awarded $3 million to 1,600 students to attend college here and on the Mainland. To apply online, visit www.hawaiicommunityfoundation.org.

Although HCF encourages scholarship seekers to apply online, students also may request a copy of HCF's 2004-2005 Scholarship Seeker's Guide by calling 566-5570 or (888) 731-3863.
