Kahului hit-and-run hospitalizes woman

KAHULUI, Maui — Police are investigating a hit-and-run accident last night on Kahului Beach Road that injured a 20-year-old woman.Maui police identified the injured woman as Michelle L. Rosa of Kahului. Rosa was flown to The Queen’s Medical Center on O'ahu, where she is listed in critical condition.
Police said Rosa was crossing in the north-bound lanes of Kahului Beach Road when she was struck by an unidentified vehicle at about 8:45 p.m. in an area that has no crosswalks or street lights. The vehicle fled the scene.
