Seasiders clinch title in PacWest

Jake Chrisman had 24 points and 12 rebounds as 20th-ranked Brigham Young-Hawai'i defeated Hawai'i-Hilo, 80-62, last night to clinch the Pacific West Conference men's basketball championship at Cannon Activities Center in La'ie.

Chrisman hit 10 of 12 shots, and was supported by Shawn Opunui (13 points), Michael Stowell (11) and Austin Smylie (10).

The Seasiders (20-4 overall, 10-2 PacWest) will represent the conference in the NCAA West Region Tournament next month.

Reserve Joe Travis led Hilo (15-8, 7-6) with 13 points, hitting 6 of 9 shots.

• Hawai'i Pacific 83, Chaminade 78: Audrius Peciukas scored 24 points as Hawai'i Pacific (9-15, 6-7) held off Chaminade (9-13, 6-6) in a Pacific West Conference game at Blaisdell Arena.

Aaron Abrams added 17 points and Dante Sykes 16 for HPU.

Jason Walter and Nick Frey each scored 14 points to lead Chaminade.
