UH baseball and swimming, paddling championships postponed

Advertiser Staff

Bad weather postponed today's state high school canoe paddling championships and affected the two-day state swimming championships. In addition, tonight's University of Hawai'i baseball game was postponed.

The Rainbows' game with the University of San Francisco will be made up tomorrow in a 1 p.m. doubleheader at Les Murakami Stadium. Tickets for tonight's game will be honored tomorrow, although Saturday's tickets will take precedence regarding reserved seating.

The Hawai'i High School Athletic Association/First Hawaiian Bank canoe paddling championships originally scheduled for today will take place tomorrow 8 a.m. at Ke'ehi Lagoon.

The HHSAA/Local Motion swimming and diving championships scheduled for today and tomorrow at Wailuku, Maui, will be condensed into a one-day event tomorrow starting at 10 a.m.

The weather service issued a flash-flood warning yesterday, and kept it in place through today for most of the state.

If conditions do not permit holding the canoe races tomorrow, this year's championships will be canceled, according to Hartwell Lee Loy, canoe paddling coordinator for the HHSAA.
