Advertiser Staff

LIHU'E, Kaua'i — A band made up of 250 student musicians from all over Kaua'i will march in the 116th Tournament of Roses Parade in Pasadena, Calif., on New Year's Day 2005.

The Kaua'i All Island Ku Kilakila Band is composed of students from the island's public and private high schools, plus a few from middle schools. They will join 23 other bands selected from across the nation to participate in the parade. Veteran Kaua'i High School band teacher Larry McIntosh is directing the Ku Kilakila Band.

Band members have started a fund-raising program to pay for their traveling and lodging costs. A "Run for the Roses" jogathon is scheduled March 6 at Vidinha Stadium.
