Kahuku, Iolani sweep wrestling championships

Kahuku, of the O'ahu Interscholastic Association, and the Interscholastic League of Honolulu's Iolani sweep the boys and girls divisions at their respective wrestling meets yesterday.

The Kahuku boys scored 254.5 points to easily outdistance Waipahu (153.5) and Kaiser (131) at Leilehua.

The Red Raider girls edged Farrington, 176.5-173.5. Moanalua was third with 135 points.

The Iolani boys scored 173.5 points, with Kamehameha second with 150 and Punahou third with 112. The meet was held at Iolani.

The Raiders girls scored 95 points to edge Pac-Five, which finished with 94. Kamehameha was third with 76.

Winning his fourth OIA individual title was McKinley's Rene Suehiro, who won a 7-2 decision over Kahuku's Matt Comeau at 145 pounds.
