Tourism agency signs contracts
The Hawai'i Tourism Authority said it has signed agreements effective Jan. 1 with the Hawai'i Visitors & Convention Bureau and four new tourism marketing contractors.
HVCB, which will promote Hawai'i in North America and for corporate meetings and incentives promotions, was given a $24.2 million contract that includes support for its Island chapters.
Other signed contracts will mean $7.3 million for Dentsu Inc.'s Japan marketing, $950,400 for Marketing Garden's promotion to the rest of Asia, $768,000 for The Mangum Group's Europe marketing, and $600,000 for The Walshe Group's Oceania marketing.
80 employers at seventh job fair
More than 80 local and Mainland businesses and government employers will be on hand at the seventh annual Job Quest on Jan. 14, 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., at the Neal Blaisdell Center.
In past years, Job Quest employment fairs drew more than 4,500 job seekers.
The event will include an Apprenticeship Expo in the Pikake Room. Representatives from apprenticeship training programs, including the Pearl Harbor Naval Shipyard, will pass out job information and hold workshops on career opportunities in the industrial trades.
General admission is $1, 50 cents for students with valid school ID. Attendees should dress appropriately for interviews, bring multiple copies of their resumes and register in advance at www.jobsurveys.com/jobquest.
