Epiphany service planned

Church of the Crossroads, 1212 University Ave., will conduct an Epiphany Celebration of Light and sing the Holden Evening Prayer by Marty Haugen at 7:30 p.m. tomorrow in which the public is invited to be the choir.

When people come for the candlelit evening of music, meditation and readings, they will receive the musical score to sing along.

The meditation includes silence and light music played by Claire Rivero on the Celtic harp, Scripture readings and solo performances by David Reese, Joanna Takagi and Catherine Hage, who is also a dancer. The Rev. Neal MacPherson will lead.

World Religion Day celebration

The Bahai's of the Hawaiian Islands are holding a free lecture as part of a World Religion Day celebration at 7:30 p.m. Jan. 17 at the Honolulu Bahai's Center, 2165 10th Ave. in Palolo.

Al McDermid, a lecturer in world history at Kapi'olani and Windward community colleges, will discuss "The Fertile Crescent and the Origins of Religion." Singer-songwriter Carol Magarian Palm will perform and light refreshments will be served.
