Hawai'i's top two juniors ousted

Hawai'i's top two seeds in the Billabong World Junior Championship were eliminated during the second day of competition yesterday in 2- to 4-foot waves at North Narrabeen, Australia.

Joel Centeio and Jamie O'Brien were both upset in the third round. Centeio was the top seed in the whole contest.

Four Hawai'i surfers remain in contention. Kekoa Bacalso, Daniel Jones and T.J. Barron won third-round heats to advance to the fourth round. Sean Moody has yet to complete his third round heat.

Two other Hawai'i surfers were eliminated in the third round: Nathan Carroll and Ola Eleogram. The contest is considered the world championship for surfers age 21 and younger.
