U.S., China plan exchange

Associated Press

Members of the United States and Chinese congresses will take part in an interparliamentary exchange under an agreement announced yesterday in Hawai'i.

Sen. Ted Stevens, R-Alaska, president pro tempore of the Senate, and Sen. Daniel Inouye, D-Hawai'i, will serve as chairman and co-chairman of the U.S. group taking part in the exchange, said Jennifer Mies, director of president pro tempore affairs.

Stevens and Inouye signed a memorandum of understanding to formally establish the initiative last night at the Hilton Hawaiian Village.
