Hit-and-run driver sought

The Honolulu Police Department is seeking information about a hit-and-run death that occurred around 5:15 p.m. Friday on Ka'amilo St., between Moanalua Road and upper Kaimu Loop.

Police are looking for the driver of a vehicle, possibly a Mazda, that struck a 40-year-old man who died of multiple injuries after being taken to The Queen's Medical Center.

Police said the man had just parked a light blue 1989 Toyota pickup by the curb at 98-565 Ka'amilo St. and was getting out when the pickup was hit in the left rear by a north-bound vehicle. The vehicle continued forward, striking the victim, who was left pinned beneath the pickup.

The driver left the scene without stopping, according to police. They ask that anyone with information about the incident call the HPD traffic division at 529-3499.
