A 40-year-old Kailua man who died at The Queen's Medical Center after being struck by a car Friday was identified today by the medical examiner's office as Julio Duque.
Duque was getting out of his parked pickup truck at 5:15 p.m., in the 98-500 block of Ka'amilo Street between Moanalua Road and Kaimu Loop in 'Aiea, when a car struck the truck from the rear. The car continued forward and hit Duque, who was left pinned beneath his truck.
The driver of the car, which may have been a Mazda, fled. Anyone with information can call police at 529-3499.
Attempted murder charged
Authorities charged a 60-year-old Makiki woman with attempted second-degree murder in connection with a stabbing of the woman's roommate Friday.
Joan Fletcher of a Dole Street address was being held in lieu of $50,000. The roommate, a man, 22, was stabbed in the chest and was in stable condition at The Queen’s Medical Center.
A police report filed in District Court said Fletcher accused the man of stealing money from her.
Dispute leads to three charges
Authorities charged a 39-year-old Mo'ili'ili man yesterday with pointing a gun at a woman and threatening to kill her during a dispute.
David Borce is charged with two counts of first-degree terroristic threatening and being a felon in possession of a firearm. Bail was set at $40,000.
School arrest leads to charges
A 34-year man arrested Friday night at a public school in Kalihi was charged Saturday with being armed with a loaded "zip" gun.
Ernesto C. Villaruz Jr. was also charged with being a felon in possession of a firearm. His bail is $50,000.
Police found Villaruz standing on the school grounds at 6:10 p.m. The improvised gun and ammunition were found during a search.
Visitor stricken in bay identified
The medical examiner's office today identified a 56-year-old man who died at The Queen's Medical Center Saturday after being pulled from Hanauma Bay as Steve Hamill of Saugus, Calif.
Man charged in robbery, kidnap
A 44-year-old man was charged yesterday with robbing a woman of her backpack Nov. 8 and leaving her tied to a tree outside Kailua.
Anthony Funn is charged with second-degree robbery and kidnapping. Funn was arrested Saturday in a parking lot at 511 Wailepo St. and identified by the victim. His bail is $50,000.
Kathleen Souza was charged Nov. 17 with robbery and kidnapping in the same case.
