Bill Durston of Leilani Nursery in Waimanalo has been growing 100,000 pots of poinsettias this season. With the exception of the winds in late November, which gave growers a scare, "it's been an exceptionally good year weather-wise," Durston said. Some markets already have poinsettias for sale. Under partly cloudy skies on a cool Wednesday morning, swimmers enjoy calm water off Ala Moana Beach Park as a Coast Guard ship cruises in the distance. After the recent siege of wet weather, O'ahu beachgoers were finding light winds and a lot more sun, thanks to a high-pressure area north of the state.
