A group of Kamehameha Schools marching band musicians and chaperones will return to Honolulu this afternoon after weather stranded them in New Orleans for two days.
Most of the 280 travelers returned Monday, as scheduled, after a Mainland tour, said organizer Iris Kauka. But after performing at Sunday's Sugar Bowl, the band learned one of their four flights was canceled because of a storm in Chicago.
The airline paid for two extra nights of hotel rooms and meals for the 12 students and 22 adult chaperones and staff. In Honolulu, United arranged seating aboard a Delta Airlines flight arriving at 4:45 p.m. today.
