San Francisco Giants pitcher Jerome Williams, a Waipahu High alumnus, will have his high school jersey retired during a halftime ceremony of tonight's O'ahu Interscholastic Association Western Division varsity basketball game between Mililani and Waipahu at the Marauders' gym.

The junior varsity game starts at 5 p.m. with the varsity to follow at about 6:30.

Waipahu athletic director Hartwell Lee Loy Jr. said one of Williams' Giants jerseys will be given away as a prize. He said Williams also will be available to sign autographs.

Williams, who turned 22 on Dec. 4, was 7-5 with a 3.30 earned-run average in his first major league season last year. The Giants picked him 39th overall in the 1999 draft out of high school.

Williams, the 1999 Advertiser Player of the Year in baseball, also played basketball at Waipahu.
