Aloha seeks to extend service to D.C.

Aloha Airlines wants to expand its eastbound service by providing two daily nonstop flights from Washington, D.C., to Orange County and connecting to Honolulu, with hopes of getting approval from the U.S. Department of Transportation by summer.

Aloha today submitted an application to the department that would in effect extend Aloha’s service from Hawai'i to Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport.

Aloha currently flies no further than Reno, Nev., and Phoenix, Ariz., on the Mainland.

"Aloha is very excited about the opportunity to provide the traveling public with the convenience of direct service between our nation’s capital, Orange County and Hawai'i," Aloha President Glenn Zander said in a statement this morning.

Aloha hopes to get approval in June and begin flights on July 1.

The first flight of the day would leave Ronald Reagan airport at 8 a.m. and arrive in Orange County’s John Wayne Airport at 10:45 a.m. The flight to Honolulu would continue on at 11:40 a.m.

An evening flight would leave Ronald Reagan at 5:05 p.m. and arrive at John Wayne at 7:50 p.m. It would continue on to Honolulu at 8:55 p.m.
