BYUH's Kalabic an All-American in water polo

Brigham Young-Hawai'i men's water polo player Vanja Kalabic has earned first-team NCAA II All-America honors from the Collegiate Water Polo Association for the third consecutive year.

Kalabic was also recognized with honorable -mention status on the All-Division Team.

Kalabic, a junior from Belgrade, Yugoslavia, scored 75 goals this season for the Seasiders. He averaged 3.4 goals per game in leading BYUH to a 15-7 overall record and a No. 16 finish in the national rankings. The Seasiders placed fifth in the Western Water Polo Association tournament.

Kalabic scored at least one goal in every match for the Seasiders this year.



GOLF

• UH names women's coach: Ashley Adleta, a former assistant golf coach at Arizona State, has been named interim women's golf coach at the University of Hawai'i, athletic director Herman Frazier announced.

She succeeds Marga Stubblefield, who resigned last year.

Adleta played at Pepperdine and Arizona State, and was an ASU assistant coach from 1995 to 2001.

Frazier, a former ASU senior associate athletic director, said he picked Adleta after consulting with former longtime Sun Devil women's golf coach Linda Vollstedt.
