Bicyclist killed in North Shore collision

A bicyclist struck by a van last night on the North Shore died at Kahuku Hospital.The collision on Kamehameha Highway at Ke Waena Road near Sunset Beach was reported to police at 10:47 p.m. The victim was an 18-year-old man from Australia, police said. He was pronounced dead at 11:27 p.m.
Investigators said the bicyclist was attempting to cross Kamehameha Highway and was not in a crosswalk when struck by the van.
It was O'ahu’s fourth traffic death of the year. There were five by Jan. 12 last year.
