UH's Azenha won't make volleyball road trip

Pedro Azenha, the University of Hawai'i volleyball team’s most porductive offensive player this season, has been diagnosed with a second-degree sprain in his left ankle and will miss the upcoming road trip against UC Santa Barbara on Thursday and Friday.

Azenha, a 6-foot-7 sophomore from Brazil, said he suffered the injury when Lewis outside hitter Jeff Soler stepped on his foot near the end of the third game in Saturday’s five-game victory over the Flyers.

UH coach Mike Wilton said Azenha will have additional medical tests to determine if the injury is more severe than a sprain.

Wilton said third-year sophomore Matt Bender will start at opposite hitter in place of Azenha.
