Body found in house after fire

PUNA, Hawai'i — Firefighters found a body yesterday in a Hawaiian Paradise Park house that was destroyed by fire.

Police Lt. Steve Guillermo said the body was badly burned and officials could not determine the sex or identity of the victim. An autopsy will be performed tomorrow to determine the identity of the victim and cause of death, added Guillermo.

Firefighters responded to an 8:15 a.m. call from neighbors and found the house engulfed in flames.

After extinguishing the blaze, they found the charred body inside.
