Tonight's Must-See
"Frontline: From China With Love," 9 p.m., PBS. The case of FBI agent J.J. Smith and informant Katrina Leung continues to intrigue people. For decades, Leung and her FBI handler Smith (both married to other people) had an affair.
The U.S. government gave her $1.1 million in expense money and $435,000 in pay. But in addition to being a spy for the United States, Leung would sneak material from Smith's briefcase, the government says, photocopy it and give it to the Chinese government. It's all like a Hollywood movie, some say, except for the casting.
"Friends," 7 p.m., NBC. Here's a "clip show" stuffed with scenes from previous episodes of this terrific series, which is now midway in its 10th and final season. The situation starts when Rachel and Phoebe spot Chandler getting into a car with an anonymous blonde.
Of Note
"Sliding Doors" (1998), 7, 9 p.m., TNT. Just before reaching the top with "Shakespeare in Love," Gwyneth Paltrow drew high praise for her work here. In parallel scenes, we see how things would have been different if she had missed her train.
"Tru Calling," 7 p.m., Fox. The latest tragedy has happened right in the morgue. Tru goes back in time to try to prevent it.
"Threat Matrix," 7 p.m., ABC. Kilmer's probe into the Vargas murder leads to a North Korean official.
"The Apprentice," 7:30 p.m., NBC. After losing to the all-female team Protege in last week's lemonade stand challenge, the Versacorp men regroup with one less member. The Donald (as in Trump) smartly fired the nebbish David, over loose cannon Sam. In this week's episode, both teams are given the challenge of creating an ad campaign for The Marquis Jet Card. The program moves to its permanent 7 p.m., Wednesday slot next week.
"ER," 9 p.m., NBC. Abby and Neela have a wrenching day in the intensive-care unit for babies.
