Hawaiian Warriors to face Snoop Dogg's team

Football players looking for a chance to play against the big dog can have their opportunity Feb. 7.

Rapper Snoop Dogg and his semi-pro team will take on the Hawaiian Warriors at 1 p.m. at a site to be determined.

Snoop Dogg is the owner of the team and plays wide receiver. His team is unbeaten.

The Warriors are looking for offensive linemen. Interested players should have some college experience.

Practices are held Mondays at Pacheco Park in Pearl City; and Tuesdays and Thursdays at Nanakuli Beach Park. All practices start at 7:30 p.m.

Top women's racquetball event

The world's best women's players will be competing in a Ladies Professional Racquetball Association tournament over the weekend at The Honolulu Club.

The tournament features competitors from the LPRA Tour, which will be making its first stop ever in Hawai'i.

Among the competitors will be the world's top four-ranked women in Cheryl Gudinas (Chicago), Kerri Wachtel (Chicago), Rhonda Rajsich (Phoenix), Kersten Hollander (San Diego).

It also offers a $34,000 purse, the largest of any women's pro tournament in the United States. The winner receives $4,500.

The professional tour tournament is part of the Hawai'i Women's Pro/Am and U.S. Armed Forces Invitational event.

Professional Tour competition will be held at The Ho-nolulu Club. Competition in Open and A levels will be held at Central YMCA and Nuuanu YMCA and Hickam AFB.

Competition for the professionals at The Honolulu Club will be from noon to 9:30 p.m. today, 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. tomorrow. Sunday's finals will be from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m.



NFL to hold clinics in Hawai'i

The NFL and the Hawai'i Tourism Authority will run youth training clinics from Jan. 31 to Feb. 7 in conjunction with the Pro Bowl.

The clinics, for boys and girls ages 11 to 18, are at Vidinha Stadium (Lihu'e) on Jan. 31, Kea'au High School Stadium (Hilo) on Feb. 3, Kealakehe (Kona) on Feb. 4, Keopuolani Park (Wailuku) on Feb. 5 and two sessions at Waipi'o Soccer Stadium (Central O'ahu) on Feb. 7.

Two hundred participants will be selected from local middle and high schools. Others will be picked through random drawing.

AIDSWalk will happen Feb. 29

The Starbucks AIDSWalk for Life will be at 9 a.m. Feb. 29 at Kapi'olani Park. Registration begins at 8 a.m.

There is no fee for the 5-kilometer event. Entrants who raise $75 will receive a T-shirt, while those who raise $100 or more will get a long-sleeve shirt.
