GIMENA SALES BAXA, 89, of Waipahu, died Dec. 28, 2003. Born in Bacarra, Ilocos Norte, Philippines. Survived by husband, Ceferino; son, Florencio; daughters, Gliceria Baxa Cabbat, Verona Baxa Sales and Adelaida Baxa Galindo; 11 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren. CARINO "CHARLIE" DELA CRUZ FAJARDO, 58, of Waipio Gentry, died Jan. 12, 2004. Born in Las Finas, Philippines. Retired from U.S. Navy. WILLIAM LOGAN HIGDON JR., 94, of Franklin, N.C., formerly of O'ahu, died Dec. 29, 2003. Born in Higdonville, N.C.; retired certified public accountant with Cameron and Johnston; retired senior partner of Peat, Marwick and Mitchell; known as "Mr. Tax of Hawaii" during the 1950s and 60s. Survived by sons, William Jr. and Frank-Cleve; daughter, Alexis, D.V.M.; three grandchildren; two great-grandchildren. Private service held; burial at the Higdonville Church cemetery. MATSU MIYAHIRA, 102, of Hilo, Hawai'i, formerly of 'Ola'a, Hawai'i, died Jan. 15, 2004. Born in Okinawa, Japan. Retired field hand for the former Puna Sugar Co. JOEL D. MORRIS, 86, of Honolulu, died Jan. 12, 2004. Born in Mount Vernon, Ark. Retired from Federal Aviation Agency and U.S. Navy Reserve. Survived by wife, Bonnie; sons, Joel Jr., Ronald and Albert; daughter, Rebecca Wilson; sisters, Strelsa Machen and Mary Leslie; 20 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren.
