UH volleyball team falls to No. 4

Advertiser Staff

After splitting two road volleyball matches against UC Santa Barbara last week, the University of Hawai'i dropped one place, to No. 4, in this week’s USA Today/American Volleyball Coaches Association top-15 poll.

Pepperdine (4-0) remained No. 1 with 234 points and 15 of 16 first-place votes, but losses by last week's Nos. 2, 3, 4 and 5 teams prompted a shakeup.

Long Beach State (5-1) moved up five spots, to No. 2, earning 211 points and a No. 1 vote from Pepperdine coach Marv Dunphy. UCLA (5-1) dropped from No. 2 to No. 3.

The Warriors (2-2) are idle this week, returning to the court for home matches against UC San Diego on Jan. 28 and Jan. 30.
