Warriors get L.A. JC cornerback

Turmarian Moreland, a 6-foot-2, 195-pound cornerback from Los Angeles Valley College, today accepted a football scholarship from the University of Hawai'i.

"I love what coach June Jones has done with the program," Moreland told The Advertiser today. "I wanted to be a part of that program."

Moreland, who was raised in Florida, said he will turn down offers from Brigham Young, Syracuse and South Carolina.

As a freshman in 2002, Moreland, a converted receiver, intercepted seven passes in three games. Last season, he parlayed two of his four interception returns into touchdowns.
