Kahuku's Garrigan says he's Utah-bound

Kahuku all-state defensive back Afa Garrigan said last night he will accept a scholarship offer from the University of Utah.

"Everything over there was cool," he said. "I like the feeling of the place. Got a lot of (Polynesians) up there, so I won't get homesick. Plus, there's good, old-fashioned snow."

The 6-foot-2, 190-pound strong safety made his official recruiting visit to Utah over the weekend.

"He's one of many great safeties to come out of Kahuku," said Kahuku coach Siuaki Livai.

Garrigan said he will vie for the starting safety spot vacated by senior Dave Revill.
