New energy projects sought

Hawaiian Electric Co. Inc. subsidiary Renewable Hawaii Inc. is seeking proposals for the investment of up to $10 million in cost-effective energy-producing projects for the Big Island.
Solar, hydro, biomass, ocean and geothermal sources of renewable energy will be considered, the company announced yesterday.
Renewable Hawaii forms partnerships with developers by taking a minority interest in the project in return for its investment. Projects must have a capacity of at least 1 megawatt and a planned date of commercial operation no later than Dec. 31, 2008. More information is available at www.renewablehawaii.com.
