Jimmy Buffett's concert with the Coral Reefer Band, at 7 p.m. Wednesday in the Waikiki Shell, will be a chance to reconnect with the music-industry hyphenate.

Buffett, perhaps best known for his "Margaritaville" and "Cheeseburger in Paradise" hits, is not only a singer but a composer, author and restaurateur. He also has an aloha shirt line (www.alohashirtshop.com/kokoisland.html).

He was last here for an acoustic gig in 2002 at Duke's at the Outrigger Waikiki Hotel, enthusiastically received by the 400 who jammed the beachfront club and the 1,800 who tuned in from the beach. Buffett afterward promised to return, and here he is, with his full-tilt band, ready with his past and current repertoire full of fun-in-the-sun themes.

Cautionary note: Don't try to smuggle in your Corona beer or margarita mixes; alcoholic drinks are not allowed, though liquor is sold on the premises. You could BYOC — bring your own cheeseburgers.

Tickets are on sale at the Blaisdell box office and at Ticketmaster locations (including O'ahu Times supermarkets) or at the door unless sold out.
