Tonight's Must-See

"Monk," 10 p.m., USA Network. We've known that detective Adrian Monk (Tony Shalhoub) is obsessive, fretful and troubled. Now we learn that he could be the most normal guy in the family. John

Turturro guest stars as Monk's brother. He hasn't spoken to Adrian in years. For that matter, he hasn't left his house — ever. Now he's convinced there's a killer next door and summons his brother. The interplay between the brothers is wonderful.

"Dave the Barbarian" debut, 5:30 p.m.; "Toy Story" (1995), 8 p.m., Disney Channel. Tonight, Disney premieres a delightful cartoon series set in a mythical kingdom. Dave is a muscular lad with a light mind and a sweet soul. In its best moments, "Dave" feels like the long-ago "Rocky and Bullwinkle" or "George of the Jungle" cartoons. This batchof five episodes leads into the delightful "Toy Story."

Of Note

"Bands Reunited," 9 a.m. and 7, 8 and 10 p.m., VH1. The first week of reunions wraps up withan attempt to get the band Frankie Goes to Hollywood back together.

"The Mask of Zorro" (1998), 6, 8:30 p.m., TNT. This movie cuts a wide swath of action, romance and (occasionally) comedy. Some of it is overdone, but most of it is thoroughly entertaining — especially with the star power of Antonio Banderas, Anthony Hopkins and Catherine Zeta-Jones.

"Mermaids," (1990), 6:30 p.m., Lifetime. Cher and Winona Ryder are terrific as an eccentric mother and daughter.

"Ed," 8 p.m., NBC. Ed feels terrible after a robber easily took Carol's engagement ring, plus the possessions of Ed and his ex-wife. Meanwhile, Eli tries to save the job of his boss (Amy Sedaris of "Elf") at the radio station; he hopes to bring in Clay Aiken for a concert. Aiken, Burt Reynolds and Blair Brown have guest roles.
