BUSINESS BRIEFS
Hawaiian pulls nonstop route

Advertiser Staff and News Services

Hawaiian Airlines plans to discontinue its daily nonstop service from Honolulu to Ontario, Calif., on Feb. 29.

"The market is not sustaining our services," airline spokesman Keoni Wagner said of the service launched in June 2002.

He said the Boeing 767-300ER jets used would serve a new Sydney, Australia, route starting May 17, as well as its seasonal Seattle flights.

The Ontario area will continued to be served with daily flights out of Los Angeles.

Matson names board chairman

Matson Navigation Co. has reappointed Charles Stockholm, a Matson director for 32 years, as board chairman. He is also chairman of parent company Alexander & Baldwin Inc.

A&B President and CEO Allen Doane, who took over the Matson chairmanship in 2002 as part of a management realignment, will now be Matson's vice chairman.

The appointments follow the recent retirement of C. Bradley Mulholland from both companies.
