Airline to restart daily L.A. flights

Advertiser Staff

Northwest Airlines will resume its daily nonstop service between Honolulu and Los Angeles starting July 1.

Northwest, the world's fourth largest airline, suspended the Los Angeles service to Hawai'i in December for financial reasons, said Mary Stanik, airline spokeswoman. The airline will use Boeing 757-300 aircraft that seat up to 224 passengers.

Hilton income up in 4th quarter

Hilton Hotels Corp. said its hotels in Honolulu and several other major cities posted particularly strong results in the last quarter.

Hilton reported net income of $67 million, or 17 cents per share, in the fourth quarter of 2003. The quarterly results were an improvement over the $40 million, or 11 cents per share, in the same quarter a year ago.

Net income for all of 2003 was $164 million, or 43 cents per share, down from $198 million, or 53 cents per share, in 2002.

Hilton said company-owned hotels in Honolulu, New York, Washington, D.C., San Diego, Phoenix and Portland posted good performance for the quarter.

Occupancy full at design center

Several home-design, sales and construction tenants have moved into Gentry Pacific Design Center, bringing the complex at 560 N. Nimitz Highway to full occupancy.

The additions, made over the past few months as Hawai'i home sales continued to break records, include Italian cabinetry showroom Snaidero Hawaii and John Cook Kitchens.
