San Diego St. tops UHH, 6-2

Curt Mendoza's three-run homer sparked a four-run 10th-inning rally that carried San Diego State to a 6-2 victory over Hawai'i-Hilo yesterday in a collegiate baseball game at Simmons Field in Kailua, Kona.

The victory helped the Aztecs (3-2) take the five-game series 3-2 over the host Vulcans (4-8).

Jordan Swaydan had three hits and Jake McClintock added two hits and two RBIs for San Diego State, which rallied from a 2-0 deficit with two runs in the eighth before pulling away in the 10th.

Kaliko Oligo, Scott McLaughlin and Sean Tamura each batted 2 for 5 for Hilo. Starting pitcher John Matson worked seven scoreless innings, allowing two hits while striking out two and walking five.
