How Hawai'i hotels are faring

The state recorded a slight gain in occupancy to 72.5 percent for the week ended Saturday, according to Hospitality Advisors LLC. Statewide average daily rate also improved to $157.33. Maui led all islands in occupancy at 78.8 percent and had the highest average room rate at $177.21. O'ahu saw a gain in occupancy to 73.7 percent while its daily rate increased to $113.96 compared to last year. The Big Island achieved an impressive 13 percent increase in occupancy to 75.8 percent.
