Kennedy Theatre's season on the mainstage continues with "Betty's Summer Vacation" by contemporary playwright Christopher Durang. University of Hawai'i-Manoa alumna Betty Burdick is guest director. Megan Patton, right, is Betty. This dark comedy takes a look at reality TV and America's obsession with its sensationalist nature. Tickets are $15 general, $12 seniors, military, UH faculty/staff, $10 non-UHM students and $3 UHM students. The Feb. 7 show will be interpreted in American Sign Language.

CONCERT: Feb. 7

"Get Down Tonight" ... "That's the Way (I Like It)" ... "Shake Your Booty" ... these are among the greatest hits of disco-era legend KC and The Sunshine Band, which headlines the concert and party celebrating the 25th anniversary of the Pro Bowl. California surf band Papa Doo Run Run is the opening act. Tickets are $30 and $25 reserved, and $15 advance general admission.

CARNIVAL: Feb. 6-7

The Punahou School carnival, themed "Rock On!" is back, and folks from all over the island will be converging on the Makiki campus for the usual goodies, including rides, games, tons of food (malassadas! chutney!), art show, white-elephant sale and entertainment. Admission is free.

CONCERT: Feb. 14

It'll be Bump City on Valentine's Day with Tower of Power, left, the funky rock band formed in the late '60s whose classic hits include "What Is Hip?," "You're Still a Young Man" and "So Very Hard to Go." The Blaisdell Arena floor will be converted into a nightclubby dance party, and those seated at the tables will even have drinks and pupu service. Tickets: $45 for reserved arena level floor and riser seating and $55 for reserved table seating.

V-Day is back! Eve Ensler's ever-popular "Vagina Monologues" returns to Hawai'i as part of the V-Day Worldwide Campaign. This year's benefit production is presented by Girl Fest Hawaii, with a cast that includes Lois-Ann Yamanaka, Nora Okja Keller, Joy Harjo, Brenda Kwon, Selah Hope Geissler, Kasi Nunes, Elea Dumas, Cocoa Chandelier, Tanisha, Jaquie Yang and Grace Alvaro Caligtan. Luciana Tarantino will perform a dance solo and DJ Primmitiv provides the grooves. Tickets: $12-$32.

Also: a reception party follows the performance from 10 p.m. to 2 a.m. at The W Hotel, with a talk story and intro to "The Menologues," featuring the men of Hawaii Slam. Sisters in Sound and Rebel Girl Underground bring in the sounds, celebrating the return of DJ Zita. Admission is $5, or free for those with V-Day Honolulu tickets, for 21 and older.

MIXED BAG: Feb. 16

The Great Aloha Run is right around the corner, so sign up now. Register through Feb. 2 or at the Great Aloha Run Family Fitness Expo Feb. 13-15 at the Blaisdell Exhibition Hall; rates vary. Celebrate health, fitness and fun during the 20th anniversary of this 8.15 mile walk/run, which is followed by a party with entertainment and prizes in the stadium. The Advertiser is a sponsor of this event.

COMEDY: Feb. 20

Make Me Laugh 2, a new showcase of comedy, features a crew of veteran and new comics ready and willing to tickle those funnybones. The lineup: Bo Irvine, Da Braddahs, Mel Cabang, below, Tony Solis, Champ, Shawn Felipe, Cathy Tanaka, Kaleo Pilanca and a few surprises. CONCERT: Feb. 21-22

Party on with heavy-metal band Rhino Bucket, above, hailing from Los Angeles. Known for its self-titled debut album and the followup "Get Used to It," the band may best be known for having its music featured in the movie and soundtrack of "Wayne's World." Its Bon Scott-era AC/DC sound is fueled by members Georg Dolivo on lead vocals and guitar, Reeve Downes on bass, Brian Forsythe on lead guitar and Jackie Enx (formerly known as Liam Jason) on drums. Tickets are $7 advance (good for both nights) or $10 on the day of the show.

Enjoy the songs of Irving Berlin when Kaimuki High School Performing Arts Center presents its spring production, "The Melody Lingers On." The musical features the life story and classic songs of award-winning composer Berlin, a Russian immigrant who died in 1989 after contributing a wealth of American pop standards. Tickets are $8 general and $5 children, seniors and students with ID. Preschool-aged children and younger are free. Tickets for Alumni Night, which will be March 6, are $10 for adults and seniors and $5 for children and students.

Be dazzled by the glitter and glamour of Las Vegas right here at Pearl Harbor with the return of the popular revue Mardi Gras Follies 2004, right. Presented by the Pearl Harbor Performing Arts Association, the 49th year of this annual fund-raiser showcases catchy songs and brilliant dances with lavishly colorful costumes too. Directed by Jack Cione, this year's variety show salutes the red, white and blue. Tickets are $35, $45 or $50 per person, including dinner buffet, show, tax, tip and free parking. All proceeds from the show are donated to military and civilian charities in Hawai'i.

Mark your calendars now: The KINE Aloha Friday Luncheon Show returns to the Ala Moana Hotel beginning Feb. 6 with a stellar lineup of entertainers: The Brothers Cazimero, Amy Hanaiali'i Gilliom and Na Palapalai. Seating begins at 10:30 a.m., lunch buffet at 11 a.m., with entertainment from 11:30 a.m. The live radio broadcast on 105 KINE takes place noon-1 p.m. Brickwood Galuteria hosts each show. Tickets for the Feb. 6 event, in the Garden Lanai Room, are $19 general, $15 for kids 12 and younger. More shows are scheduled for April 21 (yes, that's a Wednesday, Secretaries Day), May 21, July 2, Sept. 3 and Dec. 10; prices and lunch menus for future shows may vary and will be in either the Garden Lanai Room or the Hibiscus Ballroom. 955-4811.

Return trip: San Francisco-based rock/funk/pop/reggae band ALO is coming back to the Islands for a series of shows. The band, which was here in March, is finishing up its fourth full-length album, due in the spring; it features a track with local hero Jack Johnson. (Johnson and the ALO band members were classmates at the University of California-Santa Barbara.) The ALO schedule:
