Hotels almost 75% full in Dec.

Hotels in Hawai'i were 74.75 percent full on average in December, according to PKF Hawaii's survey of 129 properties.

That is an 8.13 percent rise from last year. The average daily rate for a hotel room was $163.79, up from $156.59 a year ago.

For the year, occupancy was up 2.03 percent from 2002 and the average daily rate was up 3.88 percent.



Business-plan competition set

Chaminade University will host a business-plan competition for nonprofit organizations.

First prize in the Hogan/Bank of Hawaii Nonprofit Business Plan Competition is $15,000 cash and 40 hours of technical assistance.
