Builders jump into Parade of Homes

Advertiser Staff

The new-home showcase Parade of Homes has rebounded with entries this year, following last year's dismal turnout.

Six developers submitted 14 homes on O'ahu, Maui and the Big Island for the October promotion featuring the latest in Hawai'i home design and construction.

Yesterday was the deadline for entries and there were significantly more than last year, when three developers entered nine home developments on O'ahu — the lowest turnout in 40 or so years for the Building Industry Association of Hawaii event.

Developers, who in recent previous years entered about 20 to 40 homes, said they were too busy building and selling product to participate.

This year's event runs two weekends, Oct. 2-3 and 9-10. Entries will represent Castle & Cooke Homes, Gentry Homes, Haseko Homes, Koko Villas, Schuler Homes and Stanford Carr Development.
