Tour of Buddhist temples July 31

Advertiser Staff

A tour of Buddhist temples, which used to be a mainstay with the Interfaith Open Table a few years ago, returns for a brief sojourn this summer with a visit to three sites.

It's part of the Keolumana United Methodist Church's "Creating Interfaith Community," a free summer study program.

At 7 p.m. July 18, the Rev. Sam Cox, e-mail coordinator for the Interfaith Open Table, will be among the speakers, with the Rev. Piula Ala'Ilima discussing Polynesian spirituality and Florence Kelly discussing Bahai. The next week, at 7 p.m. July 25, the Rev. Al Bloom will discuss Buddhism and Gloria Martin will discuss Hinduism.

The program ends with a three-hour, morning tour of three temples — the Honpa Hongwanji Mission, the Soto Zen Mission and the Nichiren Mission — at 9 a.m. on July 31. Sign-up for the tour will take place at the July 18 session.

Participants will meet in the church sanctuary at the Enchanted Lake church, at 1425 Keolu Drive. Drivers are also sought for the tour.

Information and registration: The Rev. Sam Domingo, 262-7979, or Jane Larson, 261-3705.
