Service set for missing man

Advertiser Staff

A service will be held Tuesday for Roy Takatsuki, 57, who was reported missing at sea June 25 while participating in a North Shore fishing tournament. The service will begin at 1 p.m. at Saint Catherine Church in Kapa'a, Kaua'i.

Takatsuki, a general contractor from Kaua'i, was participating in the Hanapa'a Jackpot fishing tournament when he was reported missing. His empty boat, the Beverley, an 18-foot Boston Whaler, was found June 26 about 10 miles northeast of Kaua'i. The Coast Guard and Takatsuki's friends mounted a search before the effort was called off June 28.

Takatsuki was born and raised on Kaua'i and was a graduate of Kapa'a High School.

He is survived by mother, Doris; son, Abraham; brothers, Clyde and Keith; sister, Blanche Brennan; and a grandson.
