Here's what's open and closed on the Independence Day holiday, today, July 5:

  • Government: Federal, state and city offices closed.
  • Mail: All post offices closed. No regular residential or business delivery or pickup. No pickup from (blue) collection boxes. Express Mail delivered.
  • Libraries: 41 of 50 libraries closed. (Check with individual branches.)
  • TheBus: Holiday schedule. Information: 848-5555 or www.thebus.org.
  • Handi-Vans: Operating, 6 a.m. to 11 p.m.
  • On-street parking: Free, except for Kalakaua Avenue metered stalls along Kapi'olani Park. Holiday towaway zone parking as permitted by sign. Municipal lots must be fed.
  • Traffic: No coning.
  • Trash: Regular residential and business rubbish pickups.
  • Refuse convenience centers: Open
  • Open markets: Closed
  • Attractions: Municipal golf courses, botanical gardens and Honolulu Zoo open.
