One hurt in crash of water craft
A 31-year-old man was taken to The Queen's Medical Center in serious condition yesterday after two personal water craft crashed off Hale'iwa Boat Harbor.
Emergency Medical Services and fire rescue crews were called around 4 p.m.
The injured man was taken by helicopter to Queen's, said EMS supervisor Jason Kaneshiro, who said the second craft may have had multiple riders. It had left by the time rescuers came.
Barge catches fire in Hilo
Big Island fire crews fought a blaze aboard a fuel barge in Hilo early yesterday morning.
Four companies were called to the scene at Pier 3 of Kuhio Wharf, shortly before 2 a.m., said fire Capt. Clint Coloma.
Crews took about an hour to extinguish the blaze, Coloma said. The cause of the fire was still under investigation.
Kidnapping suspect arrested
Police have arrested a 23-year-old man in connection with a June 26 kidnapping and robbery. The victim, 22, told police he picked up three men in Kane'ohe at about 12:30 a.m. June 26. After driving around, the men took the victim's truck and outer clothing, police said. Police are still searching for the other two men in their 20s. The 23-year-old man was arrested Thursday.
Man wanted in four burglaries
Police are seeking a man in his early 30s suspected of burglarizing at least four Enchanted Lake homes, between June 22 and Tuesday.
The homes were entered between 1 and 3 a.m., and purses, laptops and other small items were taken.
Police said that in Tuesday's case, the victim returned home to find an unoccupied van running in front of his home, with the lights on. The victim entered the home and confronted the man, police said. After a brief struggle, the burglar fled in the gray van, which had a broken left tail light.
The man is described as being 5 feet 1, 160 pounds and with a slim, muscular build. He has close-cut black hair and brown eyes.

Fugitive may be on O'ahu

Jonathan Mark Yoro, 44, has failed since November 1999 to register as a sex offender. He also has a conviction for battery in California and is believed to have fled to Hawai'i.
Police said he may be homeless and living on beaches in Wai'anae or Hale'iwa.
He is described as 5 feet 5, 170 pounds with brown hair and eyes, a tan complexion and a mustache. The tip of his left index finger is missing.
Police said he has tattoos on both arms and his left hand. They include a buffalo design on his upper left arm and the words "Hawaiian Style" on his left wrist.
