ISLAND LIFE SHORTS
Grrr-eat entertainment at zoo

Advertiser Staff

It's the summer and it's Wednesday. Translation: Head for the AT&T Wildest Show in Town at the Honolulu Zoo stage lawn. Gates open at 4:35 p.m., with the show at 6. This week's act is Rocky Brown. 926-3191.

Not a bad deal for $1.

Use your head and protect it when wheeling around

Forget the wind-in-the-hair speeches. With the kind of traffic we have, it's important to wear a helmet whenever you ride a bike. And to wear the helmet correctly. Here's a quick safety checklist from Parents magazine:
  • The helmet should rest low on the forehead — no more than two adult finger widths above the eyebrows.
  • The strap should be taut and fit around the ears in a "V" shape.
  • The helmet should be fastened tightly enough under the chin that it can't slide back and forth.

Happy trails.

Final word

Britney Spears | In the July 12 issue of People magazine, talking about her engagement to dancer Kevin Federline. Some news outlets are reporting that both are on Maui:

"Marrying Kevin was the last thing I was thinking about doing. But then I said, 'You know what? This is my life, and I don't care what people think. I'm going to get married. I'm in love with him.' "
