JAMES SUETO MIYAKE, a 442nd Regimental Combat Team veteran and a retired federal and state education administrator, died July 1 in his hometown of Koloa, Kaua'i. He was 82. See story.

Joint services will be held Friday and Saturday for MARCELINO BAYUDAN ASUNCION, 52, and DIANE ANN BAGASOL ASUNCION, 22, both of Waipahu, who died June 14, 2004. Marcelino Asuncion was born in Ilocos Norte, Philippines, and is survived by his wife, Adelina "Del"; sons, Charles and Michael; five grandchildren; brother, Carmelo; and sisters, Sabina Bacoboc and Consolacion Laoan. Diane Asuncion was born in Honolulu and is survived by her mother, Adelina "Del" Asuncion; and brothers, Charles and Michael. Visitation 5:30 to 9 p.m. Friday at the Catholic Co-Cathedral of St. Theresa, service 6:30 p.m. Visitation also 8 to 9:15 a.m. Saturday at the co-cathedral, Mass 10 a.m.; burial of both at noon at Valley of the Temples Memorial Park.

ALICE KAM CHOY CHING, 87, of Honolulu died June 29, 2004. Born in Honolulu. Retired from Kahala Sportswear. Survived by son, Gordon; daughter, Darlene Grace; brother, Richard Lum; sisters, Elle Lee and Lena Wong; four grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren. ARTHUR EDWARD FARR, 93, of Portland, Ore., formerly of Honolulu, died June 28, 2004. Former general manager and vice president of Northwest Marine Iron Works Swan Island Shipyard; trustee and chairman of various Pacific Coast Shipyard Trust Fund committees; president of the Pacific Coast Shipbuilders Association; chairman of Western Shipbuilding Association; and president of Far West marine Inc. of Honolulu and Portland. Survived by daughters, Johanna Padie and Janet Emmanuel; son, Dale; seven grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren. Private burial at Finley Sunset Hills Memorial Park, Portland.
