Kids can explore inner artist at academy event

Advertiser Staff

The Honolulu Academy of Arts' Free Sunday program, sponsored by Bank of Hawaii, takes place 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. July 18, with a gallery hunt encouraging visitors to view some of the many portraits and sculptures.

Children will also enjoy Making-more-Faces, an art-activity booklet that they create, and they can play a new magnetic matching game or watch the Rainbow Jugglers, who will offer free mini-lessons.

The group Duchicela performs Ecuadorian music from the Andes region. The Education Department gallery includes the interactive computer programs With Open Eyes and Look What I See, which offer opportunities to learn about art-making and important artworks, and new still-life setups in the painting studio are designed to inspire the painter within.

Both the event and refreshments are free. Call 532-8700 for more information.
