ISLAND LIFE SHORTS
VH1 turns '90s to nostalgia with 'I Love ... ' addition

From the decade that brought us a phenomenal show about "nothing" (not that it matters), VH1 is turning its attention from the Rubik's Cube ("I Love the '80s") to tonight's debut of "I Love the '90s."

Episodes will show at 6, 7 and 9 p.m., spotlighting MC Hammer, "Seinfeld" (with actor Jason Alexander, pictured), Spice Girls, Tickle Me Elmo, "Pretty Woman" and more. It all seems like just yesterday, but that's the millennium way.

Unlucky in love get boost from 'trainers' in writing personal ads

Americans are expected to spend $400 million with online dating companies this year, a figure Jupiter Research says will reach $642 million by 2008.

So, how can you stand out in the crowd? The PersonalsTrainer.com group of writers, dating coaches and relationship consultants offers services to people who just aren't good at writing about themselves. "Experts" study your personal ad and give recommendations to improve it. The cost ranges from $30 for "Quick Tune-Ups" to $150 for "Star Personals Trainers." See www.PersonalsTrainer.com.

Final word

Ashley Judd | Co-star of "De-Lovely," opening in Hawai'i on Friday, on tabloid TV, particularly "The Judds: E! True Hollywood Story":

"The thing about that network (E!) is, you lie down with dogs and you get up with fleas. I disapproved of the entire thing. ... I won't see it. It's as much a tabloid as the National Enquirer. I have no respect for it and what they do. And I'd like to pinch people who watch it, to get them to wake up."
