Warriors eager to get the edge on opponents

University of Hawai'i cornerback Abraham Elimimian, 22, one of the top defensive backs in the Western Athletic Conference, will write about his preparation for the coming football season. A weekly series of articles will run up to the Warriors' Sept. 4 season opener against Florida Atlantic.
With less than a month to go until the beginning of fall camp on Aug. 9, all of the players are trying to heighten their skills.
As a team we understand the importance of teamwork. However, each and every player who hopes to earn a spot on offense or defense is trying to do workouts that will give them an edge against their competition.
Whether it is spending countless hours in the weight room, running to get into peak shape, or even meditating, the majority of us are working hard to get the job done.
Our coaches have the look of hunger and anticipation to teach us the game of football as soon as August arrives. Right now, they're not allowed to help us with our workouts.
For the majority of the seniors-to-be, we understand that this will be our last year wearing the black and green. It seems surreal that this is our last go around.
This will be the last year we will wake up at the crack of dawn in hopes of achieving greatness on the field. One thing we have learned, as seniors, is something Richard Cecil said: "The shortest way to do many things is to do only one thing at a time."
We understand that we must deal with one thing at a time. Mission No. 1 will be getting ready for a very good and underrated Florida Atlantic team that will do everything possible to deliver us a blow on Sept. 4.
