Macadamia nut sales, prices up

Farm-level sales of macadamia nuts rose 7 percent to $32.3 million statewide during the 2003-04 season from the previous season, according to a report released yesterday by the Hawaii Agricultural Statistics Service. Prices rose by a 4 cents per pound to 61 cents per pound — the first increase in four years. Production remained unchanged at an estimated 53 million pounds wet in shell.
