Windward Ho'olaule'a Sept. 4

Mark your calendars for the 4th annual Windward Ho'olaule'a, 10 a.m.-10 p.m. Sept. 4 on the Windward Community College campus in Kane'ohe. Organizers hope to draw 25,000 attendees from across the island to attractions that include entertainment, food booths, crafts, white-elephant sale, native-Hawaiian plant sale, keiki activities and exhibits. It's a community festival that also showcases the college's Paliku Theatre, the high-tech Imaginarium and other programs. Admission is free, with a $2 donation for on-campus parking. It's a non-alcohol event; no coolers allowed.

Winston on Big Isle, Maui

Jazz pianist George Winston is scheduled for a two-island tour that doesn't include O'ahu. He'll be at the Kahilu Theatre on the Big Island at 7 p.m. Aug. 17 (tickets $30, $35, $40); then at the Maui Arts & Cultural Center at 7:30 p.m. Aug. 20 ($10, $22, $27; half price for kids 12 and younger).
